RICHARD MASON - HEAD GUIDE / OWNER
Richard also known as ''Dutchie'' to his friends , started fly fishing when he was 12, and
learned on atlantic salmon and big sea run trout. At age 12 he hooked and landed a 28 lb hen atlantic salmon and has
been hooked himself ever since that cold september day!
He first started fishing the Bow River in the early 80's while serveing in the Canadian Armd Forces
in Calgary
At a time when you'd hardly ever see a boat floating it, my how times
have changed. He really enjoys floating and stopping often to work the water over good. Floating allows you to cover lots
of water and is a tool to get from spot to spot. When floating with Richard for the day, you will be getting out often and
wading through all the good holes. changing up often to whatever works , from dry's to nymphs and streamers all in the same
day
Richard is a big fan of bamboo rods for fly fishing , He also collects and deals in classic vintage
bamboo fly rods and fly fishing reels as a hobby in the winter time . Nothing comes close to what a nice fish feels like on
a good bamboo fly rod. you feel it deep in the soul
Richard is now also into useing light trout spey rods and switch rods for fly fishing on the bigger
western rivers like the Bow River , being a fan of throwing double wets and covering lots of water , his spey rods of choice
are the custom Bob Meiser fly rods , also now being the Meiser Rep for Alberta if you wish to spend a day testing and trying
out one of Bobs light spey trout rods , give Dutchie a shout and he'll set you up to have one to play and test out
with being semi retired and lots of time on his hands, you'll find him on the river lots searching
for big ol browns and trying out new bamboo an spey fly rods , and in the winter he'll still be fishing hard
as it's his favorite time of year for fishing the Bow River
Richard likes fly fishing the Bow River very early in the morning and into the late evening
for big fish , your day with him has no time limit at all, you'll never ever be in a rush to move, and he'll stay
with you till your arms ache. or you call it quit

BRIAN PEACE - EXPERIENCED GUIDE
He has been guiding clients on Alberta waters since 2000 , and has
more miles on his boots than most people have on their cars . As well as floating the Bow, he also specializes in walk and
wade fishing on the world famous Bow River , as well as his beloved southern Alberta streams like the Crowsnest , Oldman ,
Livingstone , Castle , and other streams that he might have to blindfold you on the car ride to!
On the Bow - Brian specializes in finding and catching Bow River fish on the dry fly , during what
he likes to call ''stalk and wade'' more then ''walk and wade'' trips. Now don't kid yourself though , he knows
how to get into them with all other methods too, and he"s definately an '' outside the box'' kind of thinker on the river.
He also teaches deadly nymphing techniques for the Bow River.
In Southern Alberta - Dry fly browns, massive bulls, fiesty rainbows, colourfull brookies, and
aggressive mountain cutthroats, all within a few hours of calgary. Brian has been fishing in this area since he was 14 -
that's 23 years - and he has guided on it for almost 12 years. He knows it well!
Like Richard, Brian also likes to spend FULL DAYS on the water. None of this 9 to 5 type stuff
here, Brian guides ALL day as long as you can keep going. Brian's passion shows through when he brings his clients in after
dark following a great Bow River evening!
