Bow River Adventures. owner, operator ,
& Head guide Richard Mason aka '' Dutchie '' , started fly fishing at the young age of 12 years old
and began fly fishing on the Bow River in 1983 while station in Calgary serving in the Canadian Armd Forces '' Recce Sqn''
His love for the outdoors led to a variety of many interests .For a great number of years Richard
operated a big game outfitting business near Cold Lake , Alberta
He enjoyed guiding and hunting for big Whitetail Bucks & hunting and guiding for upland birds
with his most loved birddogs the Brittany , while training bird dogs and competing in Dog trials of which he won the Canadian
Pheasant Championship '' 3 '' times , he just loves talking about good birddogs and big game hunting
During these years near Cold Lake Alberta , Richard served in the Canadian Arm'd Forces for 21 years
before retiring from active duty , while at the same time was very much into raising and the breeding of coloured registered
Quarter horses.
He now spend his days guiding on the Bow River and other Alberta streams and is a avid collector
of fine classic bamboo fly rods and vintage classic fly reels . Plus now with the new Meiser light spey rods for
trout fishing it has open the doors to a whole new world of fishing , meeting and taking allot of spey casters
from around the world who just want to swing streamers or double wets for big trophy browns on the Bow River with him
